Delilah & Gab’s Summer Starlit Point Wedding

Delilah and Gab had a beautiful summer Starlit Point wedding. We planned long-distance over a few months and we couldn’t have been happier with how it all came together.

Getting started planning proved a touch difficult, only in the beginning, but once we got into – found our grove –  and really dug in and we were able to get so much done long-distance and a little time change at all.

When you’re not used to having a professional or someone helping you – other then friends and family – it can be a bit of a learning curve to get on a schedule and communicate via email and video/phone. We don’t do business via text or social media (we really can’t serve our clients well or track anything that way).

Note: It’s so tempting to just send a quick text but once you get into the grove we can get SO much done so quickly via email and keep everything sorted and organized  (and avoid errors of info getting lost).

Delilah had a very particular vision, knew what she wanted which was wonderful and helped us really dig into booking vendors and being decisive early on.

There’s always a touch of a challenge when the couple doesn’t live locally, and also can’t come at all for a visit. We work with couples long distance all the time, and have lots of tips and tricks and ways we make that functional and find ways to communicate and show them options.

We don’t take it lightly having couples trust us with their big days, and even more so trust us when they can’t physically see the flowers, touch the linens or view the venue before the big day.

With Delilah, there were lots of emails, phone calls, video meetings, getting us all together and organized (which was perfect). They hired us for Full Planning so we worked with whatever methods we needed to to get all the planning and details in order.

This is where we rely more heavily on technology and great screen sharing brainstorming meetings to really dig into everything.

They, after a few discussions and other considerations, chose Starlit Point for their wedding location. Both the ceremony and reception were hosted on the property. The ceremony took place on the beautiful grassy area overlooking the river in the hills below. The reception followed in the clear top tent with the sun shining and warming everybody.

Delilah wanted a very neutral colour palette. There was blush, white, ivory, champagne, rose gold, and just a touch of greenery. The men were accented in grey pants with seal vests; reference to Delilah‘s heritage.

Little notes of their cultures were brought in to different spots of the wedding; which really I always encourage. You might think it’s gonna be hard to do, but we always brainstorm and give great design suggestions to couples to tactfully bring that in and weave their personalities (and heritage if they desire) into the overall wedding design. We never want something to feel out of place or sort of confuse the guests and have it be the pink elephant in the room.

Children were also a big part of the day, with Benjamin there a little cutie of a son, acting as one of the ringbearers.

Having kids at your wedding can be tricky, and we don’t generally recommend this for ballroom weddings, but if you have substantial childcare for the reception; people constantly taking care of them and watching out for them an outdoor venue can be a great option for them and you. Acres of grass and hills to run around on and explore.

Delilah and Gab didn’t want anything complicated for the reception. A few speeches, some dried meats brought in from family and friends for cocktail hours, some yummy mocktails, a delicious meal for Modern Plate, some cake and sweets from Buttercream by Alareen and, a little bit of dancing.

Most of the family had travelled in from out of town so it was a great opportunity to show off Manitoba and a beautiful space like Starlit Point.

Delilah and Gab practice a really fun song mashup for their first dance, which we can’t wait to show you through Picture & Poet‘s video (below!!).

A mashup with Grease Lightning being a prominent player. You know you had a good time in your engagement, practising when it’s just a joy getting to do your first dance.

A big thanks to all the vendors, family, and friends that helped bring together Delilah & Gab’s Summer Starlit Point Wedding:
