Red & Gold Modern Chinese Wedding – Tin & Matt

Tin & Matt had the loveliest lux intimate wedding. It was the perfect merge of their cultures and was for sure a modern Chinese wedding in all its glory.

We had a lot of fun working with Tin & Matt designing all the big and small details. I would say my favourite part was the XL floral piece we had to call in a few favours to have in the centre of the Palm Room (thanks Beyond Flowers!)

We started the celebration off with a tea ceremony. The couple wanted to use the space and florals for both the tea ceremony and then the western ceremony so we designed both the florals and lighting so we could switch things out (during a mini cocktail hour) and have the space take on a different look for each event.

With it being a smaller wedding live music was a must to fill the space with warm and rich energy. They played for the ceremony and then moved over and did a full set for us for the formal cocktail hour as well.

Tin had a few outfit changes throughout the day (and night) and it was so fun to see her ladies gather around her and have fun with all the different looks (and figuring out all the buttons and clasps). Adulting is hard sometimes! Not to mention wedding dress details.

Of course, our favourite part of each day – the first look.

We moved some decor out, switched out the lighting colour to something warm and light, and of course adjusted the florals for a standing ceremony.

Onto cocktail hour! Guests were welcomed into the room next door that we fully draped and lit. The Fort Garry team came around with nibbles and bubbly making everyone feel very spoiled while they enjoyed the live strings.

Meanwhile, we were putting the final touches on the Palm Room (including moving some of the ceremony florals downstairs to flank the entrance). We are ALWAYS a fan of escort cards, even more so when they can act as your welcome “sign” and create a warm welcome into the space.

The wedding day also happened to be Matt’s Grandma’s birthday so of course a cake and a round of Happy Birthday was in order. Thanks Jenna Rae Cakes for making Grandma feel special.

There was no shortage of food. The night progressed first with more nibbles and small bits, then to first course, entree, and then of course dessert. The guests were also treated with boxes of macarons from, of course, Jenna Rae Cakes.

Tin celebrated her mother in wearing her dress as well later in the night. Cheers Tin & Matt! We wish you years of love and epic memories to come!

A big thanks to all the friends, family, and vendors that helped bring together Tin & Matt’s Modern Chinese Wedding
