Winnipeg’s Hidden Wedding Venues

Winnipeg has so many wonderful wedding venues. There are so many great spaces that you can use for a wedding or event or intimate party. But there’s definitely a handful that you might not know about. Some of these are all-time favourites for us, and some of these are new spaces, restaurants, warehouses, that we think you should definitely check out.

You will notice that some of these are a little basic, so make sure that when you’re looking into them you ask about their max capacity, their liquor license options and, what your options are for an internal caterer or having to bring in your own.

Here are Winnipeg’s Hidden Wedding Venues

Nonsuch Brewing Co.

Tourism Winnipeg

Nonesuch Brewing Co.

Nonsuch Brewing Co. is in the heart of The Exchange, near Waterfront. It’s a wonderful restaurant with so many unique art installations, a real craft beer and cider menu, and some really yummy food offerings. I mean I’m not too sure that I really need to say anything else; just look at these photos.

If you’re looking for a location that really doesn’t need too much and speaks for itself this is your spot. It’s got wonderful warm elements and is perfect for an intimate wedding.

Forth Cafe

Forth Cafe has been open for a few years now, so you may already know it as a great place to get your latte, but did you know you can have weddings there too? You can bring in your own caterer, add decor, flowers, tables and chairs, to really make it your own.

It’s a beautiful open warehouse-style space that really lends itself to a minimal aesthetic.

With bringing in your own caterer you can really customize exactly what you want for your menu and how you want your guest’s experience to go. We’re a big fan of them as the coffee shop and even a bigger fan as a wedding venue.

Era Bistro

Did you not even know that Era Bistro existed? Well, it does! And it’s wonderful. Era Bistro is a restaurant located in the Canadian Human Rights Museum. You might not have known of it because it’s tucked off to the side a little bit (it truly is a hidden gem).

It’s a wonderful space for an intimate harvestable-style wedding or event. It’s just so modern and artistic and the art installation on the ceiling is perfection.

You get a really customized menu with all sorts of local offerings so we are a big fan of the space.

Cloakroom Wellness

Cloakroom Wellness

Cloakroom Wellness is The Exchange District’s newest venue. It’s a blank slate ready for you to take it in any direction. They have a small staff kitchen that your caterers can use. They also have freight elevator for bringing in various decor and rentals, but generally speaking, it’s a walk-up venue. So just know that going in; if you’re considering it considered anybody that has mobility issues. It’s a beautiful space for, what we think comfortably would be, around 80 guests.

It’s neutral, calming, and, perfect for really any style or direction you want to take it. It’s right in the heart of The Exchange, with a few parkades around so there’s definitely parking options with paid street parking, which is a common question we get (“Where do guests park?”).

We don’t think any of these are con just simple facts of this style of venue. If you want a warehouse-style space generally they’re all downtown so this is just simply a trade-off to getting that ideal space you want.

We so love the space, think it’s magical and, are looking forward to the weddings we have there this year.

Smith Restaurant

Smith Restaurant, how we love you. We’ve had numerous weddings at Smith over the years and really love the space. You may not have remembered what it was before but it was The Current (think all the shades of blue and green and blown glass features – ring a bell yet?).

We are just so thankful that the space was updated, modernize and, really taking so many Canadian and Manitoba elements into the design.

It’s dark, moody and, fits that jewel-tone style wedding perfectly. Their menu is divine and, they do great with all sorts of allergies and, are accommodating to customize to your needs. We look forward to more and more weddings there.

Also, they have three spaces! The Cabin, main restaurant and, The Solstice Room. So, if you’re having a small dinner party, engagement shower, or a bigger wedding and want to rent all three you have so many options and variables to pick from.

We could go on and on; there are many other venues we can showcase. But we wanted to start there; giving you a taste of some of the amazing venues in the city that you might not have considered.

Do you have a venue that’s your favourite? Do you feel like we missed an amazing space that should be added here to Winnipeg’s Hidden Wedding Venues? Leave us a comment below!

Are there other options you’re considering and, really not too sure how it’s all gonna come together? We still have a handful of openings for this year, and would love to chat!
