Nadine & Keenan have entered our Italian Dinner Party Photo Shoot Giveaway (we know, long title!).  Below is their engagement story:

“Where to begin with our engagement story? It was sort of 1 month long… earlier this fall Keenan and his family decided they were going to Mexico for Christmas, they were also going to spend a few days in Chicago on their way home. I was invited to fly out in the new year to meet them in Chicago!

On December 3rd, Keenan gave me a card for our two year anniversary which explained that I had just started the “Countdown to Chicago”. He explained that starting today, and everyday up until the day I arrived in Chicago I would receive a gift. I was given the first bag with the number 30 on the front, and on the back of the bags was written little hints or inside jokes. And so it began… everyday I would wake up to the excitement of opening another gift, which were always so thoughtful. Each day was also one number closer to my trip, which was exciting in itself. Needless to say it was an exciting month full of surprises.

Keenan and his family spent a week in Mexico for Christmas, and I spent that week hoping it would hurry up so I could leave to meet him in Chicago. January 2nd came about (travel day) and as soon as I walked into the airport we were informed that most of the flights departing for Chicago that day were being delayed and some also cancelled due to bad weather. I had messaged Keenan that I was delayed a couple hours, and that they later said it didn’t look like we were going to be able to fly out at all.

A stressful 4 hours later (for myself and especially Keenan) I boarded the flight and I was on my way to Chicago. Now I was worried that because of the delay that Keenan and I would be late for the Chicago Bulls basketball game that we had tickets for that evening. They are Keenan’s favourite team and the number one thing we had been looking forward to on the trip!

When I finally landed, I booked it through the airport so we could leave for the game. When I came up to the baggage area I spotted Keenan, dressed up looking very handsome. He was holding in one hand a bouquet of purple roses, my favourite colour, and the other hand he was holding the bag with the number 1 on it!

We greeted each other and one of the first things I asked him was “When is the game at?!” (since I had been worried the whole flight), he told me not to worry about that right now, then he gave me the flowers. He then held out the bag and I began to untie the ribbons on the top. I remembered I didn’t read what was on the back. I looked at the back and it said… “Will you marry me?” My hands were so shaky trying to finish untieing the ribbons. Once the bag was opened, I looked inside and saw the ring box. Keenan took the box out and in the middle of the airport got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course I said, “Yes!!”

We made it to the game on time and then enjoyed the rest of our trip in Chicago! We had some hiccups on the way home, with flights being cancelled and having to fit 7 people in a van and drive 16 hours home. Either way it was the perfect trip – definitely one to remember!”
