Crystal & Keith’s Colourful Spring Wedding

Writing this blog post is very personal for me because this is my sister’s wedding. Not only was I the Maid of Honour but I was also the Wedding Planner

Getting to be so intimately connected to the wedding, and planning, in this way was something totally new and different for me.

My sister and I are very similar but also very different, so it was a fun challenge to guide her through the process. And, let’s be real, family are also SO much more honest with you then others so I got some interesting and constructive feedback that I’ve taken and worked into our Full Planning Package and just general management with our clients which was an unexpected bonus.

Crystal & Keith love to travel and love to host so there was the thought that maybe a destination wedding would be the way to go. After writing out their guest list it was clear who they truly wanted at the wedding and how a destination wedding would limit that. They made the hard call to host the wedding here in Winnipeg.

After getting that hurdle out of the way the search for the perfect venue was on. It didn’t take long to narrow it down and to pick the Canadian Human Rights Museum. With Crystal being a yogi and very connected to nature this venue checked a lot of boxes for her. With Keith being in development the architecture and esthetics checked boxes for him.

Crystal was one of the lucky brides that had a “peony season wedding” so as you can imagine these flowers stool the show in the bouquets. Funny thing; peonies weren’t something that was really important to her but she loves coral so it was a sweet happenstance.

“Narrowing it down” was never a thought when it came to the wedding party. There was a total of 14 of us. It was a party, that’s for sure (a shout out to the missing – Aussie – bridesmaid Clare who wasn’t able to join us but was felt sending all her love and support for the couple).

As we started working toward a wedding design it was clear that colour would be a big focus in the flowers. Crystal & Keith do a lot of tropical travel so keeping it chic and green (with lots of palm leaves) during the reception with pops of colour in the bouquets seemed like the perfect balance.

After photos and a personal ceremony performed by Uncle Don (Keith’s) we went into cocktail hour and then a very fun and personal reception.

Keith has a multitude of nieces and nephews so it wasn’t a matter of who was going to be a flower girl (and ring bearer) but rather how we were going to incorporate all fo them. They all did so well and took their roles very seriously.

A big thanks to all the vendors, family and, friends that helped bring together Crystal & Keith’s colourful spring wedding:
