The Wedding Music – Amanda’s Top Picks

Ok, so if you know me at all you know I LOVE music, and I love trying new music, listening to anything that has a go funk to it, and just makes me feel. So, I thought what better than putting together some of my top picks for wedding music?

Now, there are a few areas you need wedding music:

Ceremony Music

    • Processional – the couple
    • Processional – the wedding party
    • Processional – the commissioner & parents
    • Processional – Kiddos, dogs, flower people, ringer bearer, you get the idea
    • The signing of the license (if you do that during the ceremony)
    • Recessional (just a fancy word for exit)

Hands down this song is everything right now! I don’t care where you use it but use it for your wedding – PLEASE.

Let your wedding party come into something sexy and fun! There’s no reason that their entrance to the ceremony has to be calm and sombre.

Such a fun recessional song! Just let it play out and then have 4-6 upbeat songs ready-to-roll right afterward.

Cocktail Hour Music

So this is likely an hour, maybe more (if you have a tent wedding, want yard games, etc) so it’s a great time to put all your favourite lounge or chill pop or folk songs together. Some of my favourite songs that would be amazing wedding music are:

The Reception

        • Grand Entrance – The wedding party
        • Grand Entrance – The couple

I’m just going to put this here. Just saying…Grand Entrance if you want it to pop.

        • First Dance
        • Family Dances
        • Wedding Party Dance
        • Last Dance

This one, it has so much charm and would be a really fun – low pressure – first dance choice. Also, Cinema (more Harry, of course) would also be a great first dance choice or at the very least put it on your wedding music playlist (even better; for your getting ready playlist).

Alright, if you want something really sexy for your first dance this is for sure it.

Ok, if you’re going to have a dance with Mom why not pick something like Wonder Woman? It’s got the right vibe and it’s not the same old same old song we all expect (incert one of three of the ones we ALWAYS see here).

    • Here me out, Woman for the wedding party dance, all slow and sexy! It might get your wedding party actually interested in doing this dance! (believe me, most of them don’t want to do it)

Of course, you’re getting there with your wedding music but you need some epic “get everyone on the floor” songs. Here are some that – as a Planner – always get me wanting to stop what I’m doing and get out there too.

Alright, save this for when you need that upper in the dance party part of the night. It will work.

Ok, if you’re going to do any form of toss, garter or give away do it better! Don’t make people fight for it. Play a sick song, dance it up, and then just give it away (maybe to whoever just simply has the best dance moves). My current pick for this is Flowers, of course.

What are some songs that you just HAVE to have as part of your wedding music playlist? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!
