Sneak Peek: Summer at The Gables Wedding Barn Shoot

We wanted to share with you just a little sneak peek of our shoot at The Gables Wedding Barn. Fingers crossed you’ll see this soon in a few blogs, maybe a magazine, but we just wanted to share with you a few of our favourite shots and a little more of the behind the scenes from our Summer at The Gables Shoot.

The Gables Wedding Barn is a beautiful new Colorado-style barn. It’s situated out in the country (just outside of Altona) on the owner’s beautiful property. It’s clean fresh lines and peaked timbers form the space and truly give you a blank canvas to work with.

With the shoot, we want to put together a few different looks. Wanted to give couples the opportunity to see this new amazing venue – The Gables Wedding Barn – in action.

We also wanted to showcase how you could really utilize this space and how you could set up your wedding in a few different layouts as they have both the barn and an amazing covered patio.

We know head tables are very popular, and a usually go to, but with intimate weddings on the rise, and couples wanting to have things a little more personal we decided to opt for a sweetheart table.

You’ll see the use of the moon meadow floral pieces from the ceremony here showcased again in front of the sweetheart table. We’re all about having your decor do double duty. If we can tastefully use it again from ceremony to reception we’ll do it. You’ve spend all that money on it, after all, let’s show it off some more.

Because we knew we were coming into a space with such potential we decided to really optimize a few different designs to show off what different colour palettes you could do in the space.

Not everyone likes pink, not everyone likes blue, not everyone likes rich and moody tones. But a lot of people will love this location, and it can sometimes be hard to visualize how your colour palette will look in a blank slate-style venue. We want to show off just how that can be done.

We also wanted to show you how a few small changes in a linen here, a candle there, and a different napkin, can really work with a very similar floral arrangement.

When we were chatting with Kelly, of Lily Stone Garden, we showed her our different table designs, the colours we want to use, and we came up with a floral palette and design that was so versatile; as you can see throughout the shoot.

You might not catch this, but it is the exact same centrepiece and bouquet for all of the table designs. It just goes to show, if you think creatively, how you can use an accent colour like a different linen to change the whole dynamic of a design.

When we were putting together this shoot we really want to work with vendors that were passionate about doing some fun designs. Vendors that wanted to showcase maybe a service or product that they haven’t before. Or, something they wanted to show that they do and sometimes clients forget about.

Every vendor that we approached about the shoot was so excited about getting to be in a new location, put together something interesting that they were passionate about, and collaborate in this way.

We don’t do photoshoots very often anymore, but when we do we want it to be just like that; everyone excited, willing, and really passionate about what they’re offering for the shoot.

A big thanks to everyone that was a part of the shoot, including a special thanks to Kelly from the Artist Groupe for sticking out all day when her job is usually just the first part of the day and a few touch-ups here and there. She was there resetting tables, adjusting decor with us; it’s always amazing and such a treat to have another set of hands. And it was definitely the cherry on top to have the extra help which made the whole process that much easier.

When you’re doing four tables guest designs, two different videos, a ceremony site, sweetheart table and, a cake table time can definitely get away on you so it was lovely to have the extra assistance.

More photos and blog posts to come but in the meantime check out all the amazing vendors that helped bring it all together:
