Why Hire a Professional Wedding Planner? Here’s 20 Reasons.

Picking your wedding planner can be a hard decision – there are so many to choose from! You might also be thinking, “Why should I hire a professional wedding planner when there are just so many deals out there?” Some planners will be branded in your colours so you’ll naturally be drawn to them, some will not appeal to you at all (easy elimination there), and some will be cheap so the wedding budget is pushing you to them, some will look similar to one another so then you may be really confused.

There will also be a bit of a difference in service offerings. Some will offer Day of, Month of, Partial Planning, Full Planning, Design Work and Hourly Consultation. So which service do you really need?

And then there’s pricing. You might be thinking “Well this person is charging $800, that’s a steal!” or “They’re charging $1,000 to fully plan my wedding. That seems really low, what’s really included?” or “She’s $500 more than the other planner I met with but I just like her more. Is that enough of a reason to pick them?”

Those are great questions you should ask yourself, but more over, you need to be asking the Wedding Planners you’re meeting with these questions too.

Ask them what’s all included in their package, how are they different from other planning companies, and if this is their full time job (there are so many other questions you could ask, but that’s a start!).

Hiring an Amateur?

Hiring a novice wedding planner is always a risk. Would you hire a dentist that isn’t done school? Or a pilot that’s only done a couple of flights? You wouldn’t hire a photographer that doesn’t do wedding photography because you want someone that’s used to weddings, the way they work, the timing of things, and the emotion and stress that is involved.

Your expectations and choice of Wedding Planner should be the same. You’ll want someone at your side, helping you each step of the way. Someone that understands the stress and pressure and has done this countless times before. Wheather you’re hiring a Full Planner or Day of Coordinator you’ll want someone that knows what to do in a crisis, knows how to have fun with you, is crazy organized, all while keeping their cool and being professional.

Being a Wedding Planner isn’t easy. Not everyone can do it.

Forbes lists Event Planners as the 5th most stressful job in the world (that’s right after Police Officers) and there’s a reason for that: it’s not an easy job! We take our job seriously and we work hard for our client, to bring them the experience, on the budget they can afford.

Here are 20 reason why you should hire a professional Wedding Planner.

This isn’t a part time job for us.

Unlike novice wedding planners, this is our 9-to-5. We eat, breathe, sleep, and drink wedding and events. It’s not something that we just fit in in-between our other jobs: it is our passion, career, and joy to make our clients happy.

We’re in the know.

We’re always staying relevant, up-to-date, and in the know on what’s new fresh and interesting in our area. We’ll be able to find you the perfect venue or hidden gem of a vendor that just isn’t marketed very well yet.

We’re successful for you.

Professional wedding planners have clear business success. You don’t want to hire someone that can’t manage their own company, to manage your wedding, budget, and keep you on course.

We know what’s hot and what’s not.

Why hire a professional wedding planner & designer? Designing is what we do. We spend our time and energy keeping relevant and fresh in the industry. We don’t re-create something you see on Pinterest. We bring fresh ideas to the table and bring your event style to life in your unique way.

We have the experience.

Check out their portfolio. If they don’t have more than a few events, ask yourself “How many weddings have they done?” A professional wedding planner will likely have lost count of how many events they’ve actually done. You have the experience and expertise of someone who has successfully done hundreds or thousands of events – not just their own wedding.

We make it simple & personal.

We pay attention to not only your likes and dislikes, but your emotions, stresses, and your personal needs. You might not be the type of person who can handle the stress of planning a wedding. That’s OK; your professional wedding planner will simplify the whole process for you and cater things to your personal needs, and not a template found on the Internet.

We have vendor connections.

Unlike a novice wedding planner, professionals have ins with vendors, venues, and can get you the best price, date availability, and vendor discounts because of our working relationships.

Everything is customized for our clients.

We work with our clients’ needs. We establish personalized timelines and itineraries, customized for each of our clients and their weddings. We don’t use something that we found online, but instead cater to our clients personalities, and unique requirements.

We know what things really cost.

With so much experience and expertise behind us we can establish budget pricing quickly and efficiently for you. There’s no wondering and guessing how much things will cost for months before you get going with your planning. A professional wedding planner can help you establish a realistic budget from the beginning instead of going with something that is found online and isn’t relevant to your market or your area.

We play well with others.

We know how to keep calm in the midst of stressful situations and troubleshoot anything that comes our way. With hundreds of events worth of experience behind us, we know how to get the job done with a smile on our faces and make sure that the event goes according to plan.

We’re not repeaters, we’re creators.

We don’t just pay attention to what’s on trend and repeat it. We’re creative, interactive, and bring new and personalized ideas to each of our clients’ events.

We know what’s realistic and what’s not.

Unlike novice planners, we know what’s realistic when it comes to the type of flowers you want and if they’re in season, your budget and what things will really cost, and how much time you need for each element of your wedding. We’ve been through this before, and can help you be realistic each step of the way while still getting your dream wedding.

Emergencies don’t stress us out.

Having done countless events, we know what emergency items we might need; we don’t just fill a bag of random items together. We have a fully stocked and ready emergency kit for any wedding-related need. There’s no guessing or wondering if you’re covered.

Professionalism is top priority.

We dress the part, act the part and know how to do our job inside and out, all while having fun with our clients.

We know the planning process inside and out.

Through the countless weddings and events we’ve done, we figured out what works and what doesn’t. We keep the planning process to time and know what needs to be done each step of the way. We don’t follow an outdated timeline that can be found online; we’ve developed something personalized for each of our client’s planning needs. Whether they’re planning a year out, eight months out, four months out, or even one month to the wedding, we work with each of our clients and personalize their experience to keep them on track and on time.

We fill in all the gaps.

Why hire a professional wedding planner? There are venue coordinators who take care of the catering and building, DJs who take care of the entertainment, and your photographer who takes care of your photo schedule and capturing the day–but who takes care of all the rest? Who’s going to make sure things run to time, that your decor is out, that everyone is working together, that your mc knows what to say and when to say it? That’s the job of a professional wedding planner. We take care of everything–and all the in-between stuff, too.

We know venues like the back of our hands.

A novice planner does a handful of weddings each year. We do 30+ weddings each year. We learn each venue, how they work, what’s allowed, what’s not and we know how to work with off locations too (think tents in a field, art galleries or warehouses).

We give you a lot of stuff for free.

A professional Wedding Planner is always sharing on their social media and blog great content, tips, photos, and videos simply because they want to make your life, and wedding planning, easier (wheather you hire them or not).

We have reviews to prove our worth.

Our clients love us and they show their love through amazing reviews and sometimes gifts (our Instagram is proof of that). A professional wedding planner will have rave reviews that can help prove their worth and value. If they don’t have reviews, that says something.

We have a passion for what we do.

This is our 9-to-5 full time career for a reason. Being a professional Wedding Planner isn’t easy. It takes a lot of heart, determination, drive, organization, confidence, and effort. You wouldn’t be a professional Wedding Planner if you didn’t have a passion for it.

We’re always working on becoming better for our clients because we’re passionate about each and every event we do and each client we get to work with.
