A fun idea that we thought would be a super cute summer theme, would be to throw a local artisan wedding! Winnipeg has so many talented craftspeople, that it would be easy for any bride to come up with their own unique artisan wedding that still expresses their own style! And why wouldn’t you want to boast about our talented little city?!

By definition, and artisan, is one who practices a craft, either functional or decorative, and through experience and aptitude reaches the level of an artist.

We came up with a couple ideas where we thought you could incorporate some artisan aspects into your wedding day… hope something inspires you!

Calligraphy is an art in itself, and it would be a beautiful way of involving the artisan theme throughout your wedding! Whether you decide to use it in your invitation, table numbers or possibly on the menu, it is eloquent and unique and surely will catch eyes!

Pottery is another craft that is equally gorgeous and unique to each piece created. A great idea would be to use handcrafted mugs (or anything you desire!) as wedding favors. Something as unique as this will surely be something that your guests will be able to use years from now as they think back fondly of your special day!

We are in love with this idea! How cute would it be to place a locally baked artisan loaf of bread on everyone’s plate setting?! Not only is this adorable, but your guests will surely appreciate not having to wait for the breadbasket to come around!!

Another way to incorporate the artisan theme within your wedding could be to involve some beautiful tapestries. If you can get your hands on an authentic piece, it would look gorgeous as a table or isle runner! You could also use a tapestry pattern as a backdrop to your invitations, it would look stunning!

Here’s a list of some of our favorite skilled local vendors, take a look!
